Kailua kitchen

Hinano Interiors had the special opportunity to help transform the Kailua kitchen of Mike and Lisa Kai, senior pastors of Inspire Church and longtime friends of our 'ohana. Their existing kitchen had served their family for years, but the space was dark, enclosed, and separated from surrounding living and dining areas. With hospitality and welcoming others into their home being such an important art of their 'ohana, the goal was to create a kitchen that felt brighter, more open, functional, and inviting.

One of the most impactful changes to the space was reimagining the original layout. Two walls that enclosed the kitchen were removed, opening the room to the adjacent dining area and allowing significantly more natural light to flow throughout the home. A large island was also introduced, creating additional workspace while giving family and guests a natural place to gather. The transformation allowed the kitchen to become more connected to the rest of the home better suited for the way Mike and Lisa live, entertain, and serve others. 

The finished design combines bright white cabinetry with warm wood tones, quartz countertops, matte black details, and thoughtfully selected finishes for a clean yet inviting feel. More than just a renovation, this project transformed the kitchen into an open and functional gathering space that truly reflects the warmth and hospitality of the Kai family.
